Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli threw a reception party today in Delhi and dressed up in a very desi manner for the event. Indian brides feel incomplete without wearing the colour red in at least one of their wedding occasions and Anushka decided to don red on her reception. She went with a red Benarasi saree. The sarees are from the by-lanes of Peeli Kothi in Benaras and their designer, Sabyasachi’s excitement was evident as he has seen an entire generation of Bengali women getting married in red Benarasi sarees and could make Anushka . The whole traditional attire with red bindi, sindoor and flowers in hair, lent the new bride a very traditional look. For her jewellery, Anushka wore heritage uncut diamond choker and jhumkas from the Sabyasachi Bridal Jewelry collection.
On the other hand Virat kept it simple yet classy. He chose to compliment his new bride in a very subtle and elegant manner. He wore a black textured silk signature bandhgala with house buttons in gold and a white silk kurta with hand-woven brocade churidaar. He teamed the look with mojris from Sabyasachi accessories line and a hand-embroidered antique Pashmina shawl from the Kashmir revival project. (Also Read: Is Anushka Sharma Virat Kohlis lucky charm? The fact that both Virat and Anushka chose to support traditional weaves talks a lot about their nature. They are both responsible individuals and seem to be helping a cause in their own manner.
In a joint statement, the now married couple had announced, “Today we have promised each other to be bound in love forever. We are truly blessed to share the news with you. This beautiful day will be made more special with the love and support of our family of fans & well wishers. Thank you for being such an important part of our journey.”
