Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif’s Tiger Zinda Hai starts off with a BANG at the box office, registers 80 per cent opening occupancy

Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif‘s Tiger Zinda Hai has finally hit the screens today (December 22) and looks like it has started off with a bang at the box office. Not only has the film got some solid reviews from UAE, but TZH has also managed to register a 70 – 80 per cent opening occupancy across India during the morning shows. Considering the number of screens it has been released in and the fact that it is a working Friday, the occupancy is huge. And to cap everything off, this is also the highest opening occupancy for a Bollywood film this year, so quite clearly Tiger Zinda Hai has already started it’s record breaking run.

Being the sequel to a hit like Ek Tha Tiger (2012), this massy film also has Salman – Katrina reuniting on the silver screen after 5 years. So a huge buzz is already surrounding the movie. And so, our trade expert – Akshaye Rathi (exhibitor and distributor) always expected it to get off to a flying start and that’s what it did. As he added to us exclusively, “Tiger Zinda Hai has started off with a bang. It has registered an opening occupancy of 70 – 80 per cent in the early morning shows across India. The fact that the film has managed to record such a fantastic number even before half of the single screen shows take off (majority of single screen cinemas start post 12 pm) and that to on a working day, is a huge deal. I am sure it is going to grow by the end of the day and don’t be surprised to see a huge collection on the opening day.” (ALSO READ – Tiger Zinda Hai FIRST REVIEWS out! From our reckoning, the film will have housefull shows across India by the end of the day and collect close to Rs 30 – 40 crore on day one. For those of you who don’t know, Tiger Zinda Hai is directed by Ali Abbas Zafar and is based on a related life incident. Two spies – Tiger (Salman) and Zoya (Katrina) go undercover to save 25 nurses kidnapped by terrorists. But will they be able to save them or die on the mission? That’s something you will have to see in the film. For more updates and dope about Tiger Zinda Hai, stay tuned to BollywoodLife right here.
