Akshay Kumar, Sonam Kapoor and Radhika Apte‘s PadMan continues its magical run at the domestic box office. After a fantastic first weekend at the ticket window, the inspirational film had collected Rs 40.05 crore in its kitty. And now, on day 4, PadMan has added another Rs 10 crore according to early trade estimates. With that Akshay’s film has crossed the Rs 50 crore mark, but that’s not the end of things! The film has sustained very well on the first Monday and we expect it to continue raking in the moolah. Considering that the film was released in such a limited screen space, had a low pre release buzz and a niche subject, PadMan has performed exceptionally well.
All this has been possible courtesy Akshay Kumar’s superstardom, the hard hitting subject and the tremendous word of mouth publicity that PadMan received. The audience, across the world, has been raving about the film, especially about Akshay’s stellar performance and the heartwarming message that it gave out. Our film critic and Editor-in-Chief, Tushar P Joshi, was also all praise for PadMan, as he mentioned in his review, “Sanitary napkins and menstruation aren’t the most likely subjects to make a full-length feature film. But R Balki’s PadMan does the unthinkable and weaves a real-life inspired story that holds your attention for most of its screen time.” (ALSO READ – Akshay Kumar’s PadMan BEATS Toilet: Ek Prem Katha over the first weekend in the overseas market)
Looking at the current trends, we expect PadMan to sustain well and have a fantastic first week. But with Sidharth Malhotra and Manoj Bajpayee’s Aiyaary set to release this Friday (February 16), PadMan‘s run at the box office will surely be impacted. However, it should end up with a lifetime collection of Rs 75 – 100 crore at the domestic box office.
