Sidharth Malhotra and Manoj Bajpayee‘s Aiyaary is one of the most anticipated films of the year, but the film has had to postpone it’s release on multiple occasions due to several reasons. From Padmaavat changing its release date to January 26, then the clash with PadMan, and the Censor Board certification issue, Aiyaary had to go through a lot. The film is finally releasing on February 16, but the delay and the entire process was quite taxing and difficult for the whole team, especially the actors. And just before the release of the film, Sidharth Malhotra, in an exclusive chat with BollywoodLife, opened up about the journey, the issues, the emotions, the clash, the certification roadblock, the latest solo release date and much more. Talking about Aiyaary finally hitting the screens on February 16, the actor mentioned to us exclusively, “I am very excited now that the film is finally releasing. It’s been a long ordeal for this film to release. Things were out of our control, whether it is another film coming in or our call to move forward and then the censor certificate didn’t come. Actually it all boiled down to the Censor and looks like it (the movie) was not supposed to release before this date (February 16) and hopefully all goes well.”
Sidharth even mentioned how taxing the ordeal has been for them, while also mentioning that releasing Aiyaary with Padmaavat, which was already under so much stress, would be wrong. As he added to us, “It was absolutely difficult and testing for the whole team, not just the actors, when the film was being postponed again and again. The promotions were never ending, I’ve been at it since December. It does take that energy and effort to build that momentum. We were attached with January 26 since the beginning, but when we saw Padmaavat coming with all the stress, it didn’t make sense to release with such a big film. But I didn’t expect it to be pushed till the 16th of February. We didn’t have control of the censor. The MOD (Ministry of Defence) wanted to see it and with the CBFC not issuing us a certificate, everything happened this week. So I guess we were meant to always release on February 16.” (ALSO READ – EXCLUSIVE VIDEO! When Salman Khan surprised Sidharth Malhotra at his doorstep)
However, Sidharth is now happy that they have no clash now, as he further stated, “We have a solo Friday (release) now, so it is absolutely better!” Apart from all this, the actor even spoke about his expectations from the movie, the effect of clashes and much more.
