Happy chappy Joe Wicks has a new TV show thanks to his incredible success in helping people to lose weight through simple healthy recipes and quick bursts of exercise.
The Channel 4 show, Joe Wicks: The Body Coach, will follow everyday folk and hear their bulge battle tales of woe as Joe uses his expertise to change the way they look and hopefully their bad habits for good.
Personal trainer Joe’s Instagram fitness programme is famously known as the Lean in 15 phenomenon and fans have come to love his high energy online clips while he cooks up a meal, whose ingredients are thrown into a pan in 15 seconds and whose workouts are “smashed” in 15 minutes.
But how did the buff, curly-haired bundle of energy we now know start out and what do we know about him?
From humble beginnings
Joe has always been a fitness freak (Image: Instagram) And it’s certainly paid off for him (Image: Instagram)
Joe was raised in Epsom, Surrey and grew up on a council estate. His mum left school at 15, had his brother at 16, then him at 19. His dad was a roofer and was, in Joe’s words “in and out of my life”.
The family ate lots of pasta, sandwiches and chocolate because his parents weren’t educated in healthy eating, but Joe hit the gym at 16 because he was skinny and wanted to buff up. He loved exercise and had dreams of being a PE teacher, so tried a year working in a school.
Making the fitness dream a reality

Although he enjoyed it, he admitted it was “really tough”, so he borrowed £2k from his mum and dad, bought some kettlebells, did a personal training course and stared organising bootcamps in local parks.
It was a slow start but eventually they took off and thanks to his Instagram recipes, which he started in 2014, the public got the taste for Joe Wicks.
“I’m a normal dude who’s taught himself to cook and that’s why millions of people have bought my book, because it’s not scary,” he said recently.

Despite being ridiculously fit and healthy, Joe maintains a balanced approach to eating and doesn’t believe in the trend for clean eating or viewing some foods as sinful.
He confesses to enjoying a burger and chips, sticky toffee pudding and cocktails when he goes out to dinner because balance is the key, he says.
His exercise programme centres on high intensity bursts followed by short periods of rest – or HIIT for the those in the know.
Making his millions

Joe is now said to be worth around £14.5million and now cashes in around £12million year thanks to being the most popular Brit on Instagram, according to a list compiled last year.
He’s bought himself a new house but remains down to earth: “I’m not extravagant. When you come from a family that’s never had money, you’re more sensible with it. Buying watches and cars isn’t going to make you happy in the long run,” he’s said previously.
However he admits to spending his dosh on luxury holidays which he likes to share with friends, while treating everyone .
Is there any goss on him?
Fitness expert Joe Wicks branded Kylie Jenner ‘unattractive’ in a rant against the use of plastic surgery
Not so far – he’s a self confessed good boy. Although he did recently speak out about his disgust at the current trend for plastic surgery and fillers – singling out the Kardashians as particularly bad.
“Lips, nose jobs and facelifts and they all end up looking the same, don’t they?” he told the Sun on Sunday’s Fabulous magazine.
“You’ve got the Kardashians who completely remodel their faces and bodies and look attractive all of a sudden. Every girl in the world wants to look like Kylie Jenner and I don’t understand that. I just find it so unattractive.”
And he also slammed UK stars, saying: “And there are girls in the UK on certain TV shows who are doing all the face stuff.”
Is Joe single?

Nope, he’s dating glamour model girlfriend Rosie Jones but likes to keep that part of his life as private as possible thanks to living the rest of it on social media.
He describes her as “The One” and recently said he’s ready to settle down and think about having kids.
