Kristina Rihanoff compares Ben Cohen's ex to 'a headache' as she declares: 'We are a family now'

Former Strictly Come Dancing pro Kristina Rihanoff has declared that she and Ben Cohen are “a family now” four years after meeting the then-married rugby ace on the BBC1 show.

The 40-year-old star, who gave birth to their daughter Mila in June 2016, compared the situation with Ben’s ex-wife Abby Blayney to “a headache” as she boasted about her “support for women”.

Speaking to the Daily Mail’s Weekend magazine about her and Abby’s relationship after the Cohens’ bitter divorce, Kristina explained: “I can’t comment on that because I don’t want to bring another headache, saying something that can be portrayed the wrong way.”

When asked about the true beginnings of her relationship with Ben, Kristina said: “A lot of things were written that weren’t true.

“It was difficult. I don’t really want to say any more. It’s way in the past. We’ve dealt with it. We’re a family. We have a good future. Actually, in my mind it’s so past I don’t want to dig it out because it’s unfair on Ben to have it in the press.”

She continued: “He’s my rock. There is a saying: behind every successful man there’s a very good woman. Well, I can say, behind this successful woman there is a very good man. I take pride in my work. I want to do things professionally. I respect myself and I’ve always been such a big supporter of women. I like to speak out truthfully about how women feel.”

The dancer also spoke about how Ben is the “best dad” to his kids – including his 10-year-old twins Isabelle and Harriette with Abby – and says she’s “friends” with the girls.

“We are a family now,” she went on.

“His twins are besotted with Mila. I describe myself as their friend. That’s what I want to be. They share things, stories. They talk to me about things at school. It’s important I can be someone they trust and talk to about anything.”

Kristina added: “We love being together. We go on holiday together. It was important from the very first holiday that they were with us so there wasn’t a separation. We do things together. I’ll organise things like going to see the X Factor finals and Britain’s Got Talent. We do things as a family. They have to do, obviously, the mum.”

Her comments come months after she said marriage and another baby were on her and Ben’s cards in the not-too-distant future – while he shut down claims they were thinking of tying the knot.

The couple were hit with speculation they were at “loggerheads” over their future as Kristina was spending so much time in the US as a full-time judge on Dancing With The Stars.

But Ben dismissed any idea he’d head over to US to be with his love.

“No, I won’t be,” he said in November. “I’ll be too busy at home looking after the family.”
